1:6 or 1:12? How to Choose the Right Scale for Your Dolls and Rooms
Oct 22, 2026
Buying the wrong scale is the most common miniature mistake. A beautiful chair that is twice the size of your doll is still the wrong chair. Here is how to get it right the first time.

The same design in two scales: our Z-Frame Corner Table in 1:12 and 1:6.
The four scales you will see most
- 1:6 — 1 inch represents 6 inches. Used with 11–12 inch fashion dolls and 1/6 action figures. A real 90 cm chair becomes about 15 cm.
- 1:12 — 1 inch represents 1 foot. The classic collector dollhouse scale. A 90 cm chair becomes about 7.5 cm.
- 1:4 — used with MSD-size ball-jointed dolls. A 90 cm chair becomes about 22 cm.
- 1:3 — used with SD-size ball-jointed dolls. A 90 cm chair becomes about 30 cm.
How to check before you buy
